Personal firewood permits for the Umpqua National Forest are now available through a new online E-Permit system, eliminating the need to travel to a Forest Service office.

A UNF release said personal firewood is free and allows a woodcutter to gather up to 10 cords per year for household use.

The Forest Service will continue to refine and improve the quality of the online permit system and add additional special forest product permits in the future.
