September is bringing a change to the Umpqua Valley weather.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that a surface low-pressure system and a cold front are bringing cooler weather to the region at least through the weekend. Some light precipitation may begin by Tuesday evening. Wednesday is expected to see the most moisture for the week, with up to a half inch of rain expected. The chance of moisture is forecast to continue through Sunday. The last time Roseburg received measurable rain was late in June, with July and August remaining completely dry.

Afternoon high temperatures will be ten to fifteen degrees below normal this week, ranging from 70 degrees to the mid 70’s. The normal high for this week in September is in the low to mid 80s.

The mercury reached 87 degrees on Monday at the Roseburg Regional Airport.
