Roseburg Police jailed a man following an attempt to elude incident on Monday night.

An RPD report said at 11:10 p.m. officers observed a pickup that had pulled into the parking lot of a business in the 1400 block of Northeast Stephens Street. Officers were aware that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, which failed to stop. The pickup continued south on Interstate Five and ultimately stopped near the fairgrounds interchange south of Roseburg.

The driver was identified as 26-year-old Jacob Arps and the vehicle was confirmed to be stolen. Arps was taken into custody without incident and was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude police and for a warrant out of Lane County. Bail was set at $2,000.
