Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and other agencies dealt with a grass fire in the Olalla area on Saturday afternoon.
Information from DFPA said at approximately 3:00 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to an estimated one quarter acre grass fire near the 3300 block of Upper Olalla Road, southwest of Winston.
Resources including DFPA aviation engaged in an aggressive initial attack of the fire which was moving moderately uphill. By 3:40 p.m. the forward spread of the fire was knocked down. Additional resources arrived on the scene and assisted with trailing the perimeter of the fire.
By 5:00 p.m. approximately 40 percent of the fire had been trailed. DFPA’s aerial resources, including air attack, were released from the incident. Firefighters continued trailing the fire until the entire perimeter was complete and then transitioned into mop-up operations. DFPA resources at the fire included 5 engines, 1 squad, 1 dozer and overhead command staff. The final mapped fire size was 23 acres.
Assisting agencies included Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Lookingglass Rural Fire District, Camas Valley Volunteer Fire District, and Tenmile Rural Fire District.
