NeighborWorks Umpqua has announced a new home repair grant opportunity for eligible veteran homeowners in Douglas County.

A release said the program is being offered in partnership with the Rural Community Assistance Corporation through the Oregon Rural Homeowner Rehab Program, with funding provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

Assistance will be provided as a grant. Eligible homeowners who receive funding will not be required to repay the grant.

The release said grant funds may be used for repairs that address health and safety concerns, improve accessibility, and preserve the structural integrity of the home. Eligible repairs may include roofing, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems, accessibility modifications, energy efficiency improvements, and other repairs that help homeowners remain safe in their homes.

The program is specifically intended to serve income eligible veteran homeowners who own and occupy their primary residence in Douglas County. Eligibility is based on household income, property location, and program requirements.

NeighborWorks Umpqua said they will work with eligible homeowners to assess repair needs and coordinate approved repairs with qualified contractors. Funding is limited and applications will be accepted while grant funds are available.
