A Heat Advisory is in effect for central Douglas County from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through 11:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said hot temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees are expected with low temperatures of 60 to 65 degrees.

The Advisory area applies to the communities of Roseburg, Elkton, Drain, Sutherlin, Tiller and Camas Valley.

Forecasters said hot temperatures will lead to a moderate risk of heat illnesses, especially for those without adequate cooling methods. Periods of smoke could limit the ability to open windows for cooler air at night.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Roseburg is expected to see close to a record high temperature for the date of around 100 degrees on Tuesday. The record high for August 4th is 102 degrees, set in 2012. On Monday, the mercury reached 87 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport.
