A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through 11:00 p.m. Wednesday for the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said high temperatures of 96 to 99 degrees are expected with lows around 60 to 65 degrees.

The Advisory area includes Roseburg, Myrtle Creek, Canyonville, Drain, Green, Sutherlin, Elkton, Umpqua and Winchester.

Forecasters told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that hot temperatures are expected through Friday, with some cooling expected for the upcoming weekend. Highs are expected to be around ten degrees above normal for this time of year.

Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The mercury reached 80 degrees on Sunday at the Roseburg Regional Airport. 79 degrees was the high temperature on Saturday.
