SEMI-TRUCK AND TRAILER LEFT FREEWAY AND TIPPED OVER THURSDAY

A semi-truck and trailer left the freeway and tipped over on Thursday morning.

An Oregon State Police report said just before 5:30 a.m. the vehicles left a northbound lane of travel on Interstate Five, approximately two miles south of Canyonville. The combination then impacted a significant length of guardrail and eventually pushed through the guardrail. The truck and trailer were pulled down the grade of the hillside and tipped over on its passenger side. The truck and trailer had extensive damage. A load of compressed bales of wire was scattered down the hillside.

The driver, a 38-year-old man from New York was cited. The semi-truck and trailer were towed. One lane of Interstate Five was closed while the accident was cleaned up.
