Roseburg Police jailed a man after he jumped into the Stewart Park Duck Pond on Wednesday evening.

An RPD report said at 5:45 p.m. the 27-year-old allegedly stole $492 worth of merchandise from a store in the 900 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard and then ran from security when contacted. The suspect tried to high in the pond but was seen by several juveniles that were standing nearby, who pointed out his location to police. The man was charged with second-degree theft and for the warrant. Bail was set at $6,250.
