The Oregon State University Extension Service invites landowners and managers to the Planning for Planting workshop on September 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

An Extension release said landowners frequently express both interest and concern about the most challenging step in the cycle of forest management: achieving food regeneration after a disturbance or harvest. This workshop will provide a hands-on learning experience that will cover the basics. Learn about species selection, the influence of topography, future potential fire behavior and much more. While establishing a vigorous new forest stand is not an easy task, organizers say the workshop will help landowners and managers to move ahead with confidence and clarity.

Planning for Planting will be taught by Mark Swanson, Associate Professor with the OSU College of Forestry. Participants will meet in Umpqua and carpool to field sites. Meeting location information will be shared with participants upon registration for the workshop.
