A Portland man was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 on Monday morning.

An Oregon State Police report said at approximately 8:30 a.m. troopers responded to the rollover wreck in the northbound lanes of the freeway, about two miles north of Winchester. Upon arriving on the scene, the driver was trapped in the vehicle, which had landed on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Fire and EMS removed the 59-year-old from the vehicle and transported the man to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The driver sustained serious physical injuries and was later transferred to a Eugene area hospital for a higher level of care.

The vehicle was totaled and was towed from the scene. The driver was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
