A Dillard Man was jailed on assault charges by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Monday night.

A DCSO report said just before 7:00 p.m. 40-year-old Dustin Pettengill and a victim began arguing at a residence in the 100 block of Dyke Road in Dillard. During the argument, Pettengill allegedly punched a female victim who is 7 months pregnant in the face, leaving her with a bruise underneath her eye. During the disturbance, the suspect allegedly slammed the victim on the ground while she was carrying her 1-year-old. The incident was reportedly witnessed by a 5-year-old.

Pettengill was charged with fourth-degree felony assault, harassment, and recklessly endangering another person. He was detained without bail.
