FATAL VEHICLE VERSUS PEDESTRIAN SATURDAY NIGHT

July 19, 2026 5:20 p.m.

A female died in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident late Saturday night.

A Roseburg Police Department report said just after 11:40 p.m. officers from RPD along with fire and emergency medical personnel responded to Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard just east of Pomona Street.

Public Information Officer Sergeant Daniel Allen said shortly before the collision law enforcement had received reports of a female wearing dark clothing in the median of Diamond Lake Boulevard, waving her arms and allegedly jumping into traffic in front of passing vehicles.

Allen said the preliminary investigation indicates that a Jeep Cherokee, operated by a 19-year-old man, was traveling westbound, on the inside lane of Diamond Lake Boulevard when his vehicle struck the female.

Allen said the female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

The vehicle driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature. Allen said the investigation remains ongoing.

RPD was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Roseburg Fire Department and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.
