Douglas County firefighters are among those assisting on the East Evans Creek Fire in Jackson County.
Late Friday the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s office mobilized four structural task forces and its Blue Incident Management team to the fire northeast of Medford. The blaze is threatening nearby homes and several rural communities.
The local task force included firefighters from the Roseburg Fire Department, Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, North Douglas County Fire, Tenmile Rural Fire District, Sutherlin Fire Department and Riddle Fire Protection District.
Friday night, Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act for the fire, allowing the OSFM to mobilize the additional resources. This is the first time the Emergency Conflagration Act has been invoked in 2026.
The East Evans Creek Fire was listed at just over 3,100 acres and 5 percent contained as of late Sunday night.
