FIRE RESTRICTIONS INCREASING FOR PUBLIC AND INDUSTRY

Due to increasing temperatures and decreased fuel moisture across lands protected by the Douglas Forest Protective Association, Public Use Restrictions have increased to Moderate as of Friday for all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District.

DFPA Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said in addition, the Industrial Fire Precaution Level will increase to Level 2 effective Monday. Pope said this is within the Douglas Forest Protection District, all regulated use areas, and all forestlands within one-eighth mile of those areas, including lands managed by the Roseburg District Bureau of Land Management.

For the public under Moderate Use Restrictions, these activities are only permitted before 1:00 p.m. or after 8:00 p.m.:

*Non-industrial power saw use

*Cutting, grinding or welding of metal

*Cutting, trimming, or mowing dried or cured grass and

*Operation of power-driven machinery for non-industrial property improvement or development on private lands

For industrial operators, under IFPL Level 2 the following activities may only operate between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.:

*Power saws, except those operating at loading sites

*Feller-bunchers with rotary heads saw

*Cable yarding

*Blasting and

*Welding, cutting or grinding of metal.
