ROSEBURG FIRE DEPARTMENT WITH FIREWORKS TIPS

July 2, 2026 3:20 a.m.

As residents gear up for Independence Day celebrations this weekend, the Roseburg Fire Department is asking people to be fire safe and is offering some tips:

*Only buy and use legal fireworks

*Use outdoors only – away from dry grass, trees and buildings

*Have water nearby – keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishaps

*Light one firework at a time – do not relight dubs

*Supervise children at all times – never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks

*Soak used fireworks in water overnight before discarding

The possession or use of illegal fireworks can result in fines of up to $2,500 per violation. In addition, violators may be held liable for fire suppression costs and damages, if their fireworks cause a wildland or structural fire.
