GOVERNOR RESPONDS TO SUPREME COURT DECISION ON BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP

On Tuesday, Governor Tina Kotek released a statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding birthright citizenship as established in the 14th Amendment.

Governor Kotek said, “We welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to preserve birthright citizenship as stated in the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution. This amendment has stood in place for over 150 years and has had a significant impact on shaping the culture and history of our country”.

Governor Kotek said, “Our immigrant and refugee communities are Oregon communities, and we will continue to defend out neighbors from President Trump’s reckless attempts to rewrite the United States Constitution.”
