A Cottage Grove man was arrested, and a section of Highway 38 was closed for approximately three hours on Sunday, following a single vehicle crash.
An Oregon State Police report said at approximately 1:40 p.m. a trooper along with the Oregon Department of Transportation and North Douglas County Fire & EMS responded to the wreck near milepost 51 in the Drain area. The driver of a sports car had apparently lost control and the vehicle hit a utility pole, causing the pole and powerlines to fall into the roadway. That blocked both lanes of travel.
On contact, the driver, a 22-year-old, reportedly showed indicators of impairment and was arrested for DUII. The sports car sustained major damage to the front-end. It was recovered by a towing company. There were no injuries.
