SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPOND TO SWATTING INCIDENT AT CAMAS VALLEY CHARTER

May 14, 2026 3:50 a.m.

Wednesday morning, deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and multiple law enforcement partners responded to a reported threat at Camas Valley Charter School after the school received a direct threatening phone call.

A DCSO post said following an investigation, it was determined to be another instance of swatting, with no credible threat to the school or community.

Swatting is described as the act of making a false report to trigger a large emergency response to a location. These are calls often designed to create panic, disrupt schools or businesses, and divert emergency resources away from legitimate incidents. False reporting of this nature is a criminal offense and can place both the public and first responders at unnecessary risk.

The post said unfortunately these incidents are becoming increasingly common throughout the country. Wednesday’s incident was the third instance of swatting in the county within the past week.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said they takes all threats seriously and will continue to respond accordingly to ensure the safety of schools and the community.

No further information has been released by DCSO.
