JUST OVER 4 PERCENT OF BALLOTS ARE IN FOR LOCAL MAY PRIMARY ELECTION

Just over 4 percent of ballots have already been turned in for the local May Primary Election.

Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis said that 4.05 percent, or 3,660 of registered voters have been received as of late Wednesday afternoon. Loomis said that lags 1.14 percent behind the participation rate for the last May Primary Election in 2022.

Loomis said if residents receive a ballot addressed to someone who no longer lives at that home, they should simply write “does not live here” and send it back. That will trigger security protocols that stop future mailings until the voter updates their registration information.

Ballots can be mailed back in as long as they are postmarked by May 19th, or they can be taken to a local official drop box site. A list of locations is posted: https://www.douglascountyor.gov/179/Official-Drop-Site-Locations
