The release said Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. Critical access hospitals are not eligible for such review.
Mercy said the “A” grade is the gold standard to patient safety for U.S. hospitals. A Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of “A” is a powerful testament to staff’s dedication and their significant contribution to the community.
Leapfrog Group President and CEO Leah Binder said, “An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Mercy is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm”. Binder said, “We commend the leadership, board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction”.
