A H.O.P.E. Drug Court participant has launched “Warming Little Hearts”.

It’s a community driven project dedicated to supporting families served by the local Women, Infants, and Children program. The initiative is collecting new and gently used children’s books and coats for children ages 3 to 5.

A Douglas County Circuit Court release said the goals of “Warming Little Hearts” is to provide essential resources that nurture both the physical well-being and early development of young people. By supplying warm clothing and age-appropriate books, the project seeks to ensure that children in the community are protected from the cold while also fostering a love of reading at an early age.

Community members can donate children’s books and coats sized for ages 3 to 5 to drop off at these locations:

*Clint Newell Motors on Northeast Stephens Street

*Family Development Center on Northeast Jerry’s Drive

*Adapt Integrated Health Care on West Madrone Street

*Liberty Christian Fellowship on Southeast Lane Avenue

*Winston Assembly of God on Southeast Darrell Avenue

Drug Court participant Atlyss Homan is leading the project. Homan said, “I’m helping WIC because at my lowest times, they helped me and my daughter when I had nothing to give”.  The effort will continue through March 6th.
