Troopers with Oregon State Police arrested a woman for allegedly assaulting a public safety officer late Saturday afternoon.

An OSP report said at approximately 5:45 p.m. OSP responded to a driving complaint on Highway 42 eastbound in the Camas Valley area. An intoxicated driver was reported to have left a residence in a vehicle that was headed toward Roseburg. The vehicle was located near Winston, unable to maintain its lane. A traffic stop was initiated, and the vehicle was stopped after failing to yield to lights and sirens for several miles.

On contact the driver, 36-year-old Darby Bemiller, allegedly showed signs of impairment and was placed into custody for driving under the influence of intoxicants. During the arrest, Bemiller reportedly became combative and resisted, assaulting a trooper in the process. She was ultimately taken into custody and charged with DUII, assaulting a public safety officer, reckless driving and resisting arrest. Bemiller was detained without bail.
