An Azalea man was jailed for an alleged disorderly conduct and menacing incident on Friday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 3:45 p.m. a caller said a man was driving around a trailer park in a pickup in the 800 block of Autumn Lane in Azalea, peeling out in the gravel. The suspect identified as 47-year-old David Dewey was reportedly acting suspicious and holding a black semiautomatic pistol out the window as he drove recklessly through the trailer park. A witness claimed that Dewey’s vehicle had started peeling out and performing “cookies” in the field next to the park. The witness said that at some point during the incident Dewey had pointed the firearm at him.
Deputies arrived on the scene and noticed the pickup parked in front of a family member’s trailer. Deputies reportedly observed Dewey running into the trailer once he noticed that law enforcement had arrived. They were able to call him out of the trailer and take him into custody without incident. Dewey denied the claims against him and stated that he did not have any firearms – real or fake – including BB guns. A search of the trailer was conducted, and a black BB gun pistol was allegedly located along with 1.11 grams of methamphetamine.
Dewey was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He was detained without bail.
