Roseburg Police jailed a man after he eluded them in a stolen vehicle on Saturday evening.

An RPD report said at 7:45 p.m. officers attempted to stop 34-year-old Riley Huskey who was driving a vehicle near the intersection of Northeast Nash Street and Northeast Winchester Street, after witnessing him commit traffic violations. Huskey did not yield and instead fled in the vehicle. He allegedly drove the vehicle through a church parking lot and jumped from the moving vehicle, ultimately causing the vehicle to crash through a fence on private property. Huskey then fled the scene on foot.

After a search of the area, the suspect was eventually located hiding inside a vehicle in the backyard of a nearby residence. Huskey was taken into custody without incident. Officers learned the vehicle he had been driving was stolen, he had confirmed warrants for his arrest and there was probable cause to arrest him on a previous case. Huskey was taken into custody and transported to corrections.

The man was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run-property, second-degree criminal trespass, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and for the warrants. Huskey was detained on $60,700 bail.
