The South Umpqua School District has a vacancy on its board.

The Zone 1, Position 2 seat is unfilled after no one ran for the position in the recent Special Districts Election. The term of former board member Randy Richardson ended on June 30th. The individual appointed will serve through June 30th, 2027.

To be eligible to apply, people must:

*Be a legally registered voter

*Have a Canyonville address

*Have resided within the district for at least one year prior to selection

*Not be employed by the district, including as a substitute

To apply, interested community members are invited to submit a letter of interest before August 4th. The board will review letters of interest at its regular board session on August 6th.
