A Riddle man was jailed for an overnight disorderly conduct incident early Monday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 2:10 a.m. while outside Riddle City Hall near the intersection of Main Street and Glenbrook Loop, deputies heard what sounded like screaming coming from the trails near the high school. As deputies walked the bike path, the screaming continued and became more aggressive.
The 40-year-old suspect was located on the Main Street bridge, where he was reportedly hitting it with a large metal pipe. The man allegedly refused to drop it and continued to hit the bridge. He attempted to walk away and eventually dropped the pipe. The man gave up prior to getting to his residence and was taken into custody.
The bridge sustained several dime sized chips in the paint as a result of the incident. The man was charged with second-degree counts of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. He was detained without bail.
