A fire in Green caused significant damage to a house and its contents on Sunday.
Battalion Chief Mitch Doss of Central Douglas Fire & Rescue said at about 9:10 a.m. crews from the agency and from Lookingglass Rural Fire District were dispatched to the structure fire on Circle Drive. Doss said all the residents of the home were able to safety exit prior to the arrival of first responders. The house was heavily involved in flames, and a second alarm was required to fully extinguish the blaze.
Doss said thanks to the efficient response of firefighters, the fire was contained to the single house and did not spread any further. No injuries were reported by the residents or the firefighters working at the scene.
CDF&R and Lookingglass RFD responded with 7 fire engines, an air unit and a command unit with a total of 22 personnel. Doss said the fire is believed to have been caused by an unattended candle in a bedroom. Crews were assisted by Umpqua Valley Ambulance and Pacific Power.
