Winston Police charged a woman with first-degree arson following a fire Friday evening.
Sergeant Mike Miller said at about 7:40 p.m. officers were dispatched to a fire at the Blue Ridge Apartments on Southwest Hart Avenue. Miller said following an investigation, officers learned that the resident, 33-year-old Melayna Good, had allegedly lit a blanket on fire in her bedroom and also started a separate fire in her bathroom. Miller said Good then reportedly walked outside and told several neighbors to let the apartment burn. Good allegedly refused to put out the fire and her neighbors had to extinguish it before it spread to other units.
Good was taken into custody. She was also charged with five counts of reckless endangering. Good was detained without bail.
