Winston Police jailed a man following a reported hit and run incident Wednesday night.
Information from WPD said just after 8:20 p.m. officers received a report of a hit and run in the 100 block of Peach Street. During the investigation, officers learned that 29-year-old Cody Astry had allegedly used his vehicle to ram another vehicle while the victim of pulling into their home. The force of the wreck caused the victim’s vehicle to crash through a fence and into another parked vehicle. This reportedly caused physical injury to one of the occupants and substantial damage to the victim’s vehicle along with the neighbor’s truck and fence.
With the help of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Astry was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. Astry was charged with second-degree assault, reckless driving, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, failure to perform the duties of a driver to injured persons and first-degree criminal mischief. Astry was detained on $26,000 bail. He was released on Thursday.
