FREE POPSICLES TO CELEBRATE PARKS

July 2, 2025 3:20 a.m.

Kids can enjoy a cool, sweet treat on Wednesdays this month to celebrate National Park and Recreation month.

A City of Roseburg release said Parks and Recreation staff will give out free popsicles to kids near the Fir Grove Splash Pad from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. every Wednesday.

The frozen confections are being given away to honor the 40th anniversary of National Park and Recreation Month, whose “Build Together, Play together” theme this year recognizes more than 160,000 park and recreation professionals working full-time to maintain parks throughout the country – along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers.

Parks and Recreation Coordinator Tracy David said, “All the kids who are in the area can get a popsicle”. David said. “We just want to thank the kids and community for enjoying our parks”.

Parks staff encourage local residents to spend the entire month enjoying Roseburg’s parks. Each day in July staff will post a new idea to get people into a park – 31 ideas in all.  Check the Parks and Recreation page for details: https://www.facebook.com/roseburgparks
