A Sutherlin man was taken to the hospital following a motorcycle accident on Monday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 12:00 p.m. the 58-year-old was headed southbound in the 7800 block of Highway 99 North in the Wilbur area. The Harley Davidson rider was approaching the train tracks and thought the vehicles in front of him were cresting the rise southbound, then realized they were stopped for a train.

The motorcyclist hit the brakes and skidded before laying the bike down on his left leg, causing visible abrasions and possible knee injury. The man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center.
