Covering coastal Douglas County:

One person died in a vehicle crash near Reedsport on Monday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 6:30 p.m. a deputy responded after the wreck was called in near milepost 41, on Lower Smith River Road. When the deputy arrived, the driver was deceased. A mortuary took possession of the body, and a towing company recovered the vehicle.

The name of the victim is being withheld until the next of kin notification is made. No further information regarding the accident has been released by DCSO.
