One person died in a single vehicle crash in the Glendale area Monday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 8:30 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the wreck in the 1100 block of Reuben Road. Undersheriff Brad O’Dell said the driver was headed eastbound toward Glendale when the pickup failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and went off the road into some trees. O’Dell said the vehicle caught fire, and the fire was extinguished by an area fire department. EMT’s also responded to the scene and declared the only occupant of the vehicle deceased. They were extricated from the vehicle and placed in the care of the Medical Examiner.
O’Dell said it’s unknown why the vehicle went off the road, as there were no skidmarks. It is also unknown if intoxicants played a role in the crash.
The driver’s name will not been released until the next of kin notification has taken place.
