Firefighters from multiple agencies dealt with a fire in the Lookingglass area on Saturday afternoon.
A release from Camas Valley Rural Fire District said just before 3:10 p.m. the agency was paged for an automatic mutual aid request for a natural cover fire on Coos Bay Wagon Road. Callers reported white plumes of smoke and that a grass field was on fire. Camas Valley responded with a tender and two brush trucks, along with 7 personnel.
Upon arrival, Camas Valley firefighters began assisting the Lookingglass Rural Fire District, which was leading the effort. Crews worked to quickly knock down the flame spread.

Due to dry, dead grass and high winds, the fire rapidly spread to approximately 30 plus acres. Several structures were threatened, but thanks to a quick and coordinated response, no structures were lost. Camas Valley firefighters remained on the scene for about 2.5 hours to assist with suppression and mop-up operations.
Additional agencies that responded included the Douglas Forest Protective Association, Tenmile Rural Fire District and Glide Rural Fire Protection District. DFPA and Lookingglass Fire worked on the investigation.
