Mop-up is underway on the Jim Creek Fire, located approximately 9 miles southeast of Glide, near Cavitt Creek Road.

Douglas Forest Protective Association Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said hand crews continue to work diligently on the now confirmed 18-acre fire. Pope said mop-up may possibly take several more days. Once 100 percent mop-up is achieved, the fire will be turned over to patrol status.

With the 4th of July approaching, Pope said DFPA would like to remind residents that fireworks, sky lanterns, exploding targets and tracer ammunition are prohibited on lands protected by DFPA.
