Sutherlin Police jailed a man for the alleged theft of a scooter on Monday.

An SPD report said a man called dispatch and said his son’s scooter had been taken from the 500 block of East Fourth Avenue sometime between 7:40 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. His son had let a friend ride the scooter to summer school and had left the scooter in the bike rack in front of the school.

SPD said a 29-year-old man was determined to be the suspect in the case. He was located later and was taken into custody. The man was charged with second-degree counts of theft and criminal trespass. He was detained on $7,500 bail.
