On Sunday, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden released a statement in response to President Donald Trump ordering airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Wyden said, “Keeping a nuclear weapon out of Iran’s hands and securing Israel’s democratic future has always been crucial to America’s national interest. However, Donald Trump’s reckless attack on Iran without Congressional authorization has raised the risks that every U.S. servicemember in the Middle East will be a target for retaliation”. Wyden said, “As senior senator on the Intelligence Committee I’ll be pushing the Trump administration for answers on what plan, if any, it has to prevent an escalation of violence”.

Wyden said, “Just as I opposed George W. Bush’s Iraq War, I reject the idea that sacrificing more American lives in the Middle East will make our country safer”.
