A Tigard man was cited following a hit and run crash on Thursday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 1:50 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of Glide Loop Road in the Glide area regarding an SUV hitting a mailbox and not stopping.

A short time later the SUV returned to the area. A 27-year-old man admitted that his vehicle hit the mailbox. He said he got scared and drove a few miles away to pick up someone, before coming back. The owner of the mailbox did not want to pursue charges. The driver was cited for driving while suspended-violation and driving uninsured.
