A Winston man was jailed for a restraining order violation on Wednesday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 4:15 p.m. a victim called dispatch and said the man had jumped in her car when she was at a business in the 100 block of Tannhauser Avenue in Green.

The victim stated that she didn’t know what to do and got onto the freeway with the man still in her vehicle. The victim said she had a minor accident which was caused by the suspect grabbing her emergency brake. The victim has an active restraining order against the suspect.

A deputy contacted the man, who admitted to having contact with the victim and taking her phone. The deputy recovered the phone, and the victim did not wish to press charges for the theft.

The 24-year-old man was charged with a restraining order violation. He was detained on $5,000 bail.
