CHI Mercy Health’s Center for Wound Healing and Centennial Interventional Radiology are partnering to provide Peripheral Artery Disease or PAD screening open to all community members.
A Mercy release said this will take place on Saturday, June 21st from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. at Mercy’s Center for Wound Healing located on the first floor at 2700 Northwest Stewart Parkway in Roseburg.
PAD is a widespread health concert with serious consequences but can be screened for easily.
*Millions are affected. It impacts 12-14 percent of people worldwide and 8 million Americans
*Age and diabetes increase risk: 20 percent of those age 75 and over and one in three diabetics over age 50 have PAD
*Smoking is a huge risk: It’s responsible for about 150,000 lower-limb amputations in the U.S. annually.
*People should be aware of silent PAD as up to half those with PAD may not have symptoms.
Those who should do a PAD screening are people who are over age 70, over age 50 and smoke or have diabetes, and those under age 50 but have diabetes and other PAD risk factors, such as smoking, high cholesterol or high blood pressure.
To schedule a screening on June 21st, call Mercy’s Center for Wound Healing at 677-4501.
