One driver was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle freeway wreck on Monday.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 1:00 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 just north of the Rice Valley interchange.

The driver of a pickup, a Winston man, said he was traveling at about 60 miles per hour in the left lane when traffic stopped abruptly in front of him. The driver said he tried to stop but could not. His vehicle hit a subcompact sedan. The pickup driver was not injured. The driver of the sedan, a woman from Corbett, was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries. She said that a vehicle stopped directly in front of her and she had to hit her brakes very hard to avoid hitting it. Her sedan was towed from the scene. The pickup was able to be driven away.

The OSP report does not indicate if any citations were issued as a result of the wreck.
