TRANSIENT JAILED FOR ALLEGEDLY LYING IN ROADWAY

June 3, 2025 9:50 a.m.

A transient was jailed for allegedly lying on the roadway on Monday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 11:30 p.m. two deputies were in the area of Highway 99 South at Beaver State Road in Green. They heard a truck honking at the intersection then watched it back up quickly. The deputies made their way to the intersection and found the 24-year-old man on the roadway, blocking the intersection.

The driver of the truck said he couldn’t see the man and nearly ran over him. The deputies had previously dealt with the suspect at a nearby business for being disorderly and refusing to leave. The business did not want to pursue charges as long as the man didn’t come back.

The man was taken into custody and transported to corrections. He was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and was detained without bail.
