Roseburg Police jailed a man on a theft charge on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 1:55 p.m. the 49-year-old was developed as a suspect for a shoplift that had occurred at a business in the 700 block of Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard on May 18th. Over $445 worth of merchandise had reportedly been taken. The suspect admitted to stealing the items but claimed to have given them to someone else.

The man was charged with second-degree theft. He was detained without bail.
