A motorcyclist evaded capture by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday night.
A DCSO report said shortly after 9:30 p.m. a deputy was merging onto Interstate 5 northbound about a mile south of the Scotts Valley/Elkhead interchange when a motorcycle passed him going well over 100 miles per hour. The deputy got close enough to the bike to see it did not have a license plate on display.
The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren, and the bike accelerated. Speeds averaged 105 miles per hour for about ten miles. Once on a straight stretch of roadway, the bike increased its speed up to 125 miles per hour. Due to the radio being static and the speed of the bike, the deputy terminated the pursuit about a mile north of the Curtin/Lorane off-ramp.
