Mercy Outpatient Imaging, in partnership with Heritage Imaging, will have an open house Thursday to showcase its state-of-the-art PET/CT scanner, which is one of only two fully digital scanners in Oregon.
PET stands for Positron Emission Tomography. Mercy staff said PET is a test that uses special imaging cameras and a radioactive type of sugar to produce pictures of the function and metabolism of cells in the body.
The open house will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Mercy Outpatient Imaging, located at West Harvard Avenue in Roseburg.
The free event offers the public an opportunity to learn about the advancements in medical imaging and how artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare in Douglas County. Attendees will have the chance to:
*Witness the power of AI in PET/CT imaging.
