Roseburg Police jailed a woman following a reported assault incident early Tuesday evening.
An RPD report said just after 5:30 p.m. officers contacted 41-year-old Janie Lafleur-Smeth and a victim at The Point in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street after they were seen physically fighting. During the investigation, officers learned that Lefleur-Smeth had allegedly thrown several rocks at the victim, hitting her in the head. The victim reportedly had attempted to stop the suspect from throwing rocks at her, but LeFleur-Smeth allegedly grabbed the victim’s hair and began to punch her in the head.
The victim sustained a laceration of about an inch and a half on the back of her head. She was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center to be evaluated.
Lefleur-Smeth was charged with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree disorderly conduct, and a parole violation. She was detained on $100,000 bail.
