A teen driver was cited in a school bus versus sedan accident on Monday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 3:55 p.m. the 17-year-old was traveling downhill eastbound on Lookingglass Road south of Roseburg. The school bus was traveling uphill westbound. The sedan driver attempted to correct but lost control of his vehicle, swerving twice more and hitting the front of the First Student bus, which was transporting students for the Roseburg School District.

The driver and a passenger in the sedan both had mild injuries and were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center out of caution. No one on the school bus was apparently injured, according to the report. Some parents arrived at the crash scene to pick up their children. First Student sent another bus to finish the route. The school district was contacting the families of children on the bus.

The sedan driver was cited at Mercy for careless driving and driving while suspended. Roseburg School District Superintendent Jared Cordon said he was in the process of contacting families and had no comment on the accident as of early Tuesday morning.
