WRONG WAY DRIVER WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER FREEWAY WRECK

A wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital after a freeway wreck early Friday.

An Oregon State Police report said at 2:15 a.m. a compact sedan was called in for driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. The vehicle crashed into a semi-truck near the Yoncalla/Drain exit. No injuries were reported.

The driver of the car, a 73-year-old Portland man was transported to Peace Health Cottage Grove Community Medical Center to be evaluated. The driver was cited for reckless driving and reckless endangering. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
