A Glendale man was jailed following a pursuit incident on Thursday afternoon.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 4:50 p.m. a vehicle passed by a deputy traveling at approximately 55-60 miles per hour while the deputy was parked near the intersection of Pacific Avene and 6th Street in Glendale, which is a 25-mile-hour zone.
The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, which was reportedly all over the road. The car did not yield and sped up to approximately 80 miles per hour. After about 1.5 miles, the driver turned down a driveway and stopped by a residence.
63-year-old Williams Owens was placed under arrest and was found to be under the influence. Owens admitted to drinking but refused a breath test at the jail. A search warrant was written and blood was obtained. He was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of intoxicants. Owens was detained without bail.
